Engineered flooring

When compared to laminate flooring or solid hardwood flooring engineered does have an upper hand. Engineered flooring is essentially hardwood flooring with a plywood core. This enables the engineered to be glued, stapled, nailed or floated over the existing floor rather than only nailed down (hardwood). When it comes down to it engineered has the characteristics of laminate (very stable and unaffected by moisture) yet has the look and feel of solid hardwood. Engineered flooring is also a great alternative to hardwood when applying it to a concrete sub-floor (condominiums or basements). As you may know solid hardwood must only be installed on a plywood sub-floor so the only alternatives would be laminate, parquet or engineered flooring.
