Marble
Marble is a metamorphic rock, essentially limestone after a recrystallization process. This process develops a medley of calcite, aragonite and/or dolomite crystals, which gives marble its sleek polished look. Yet as nice as marble is, this process takes away from any fossils and sedimentary textures present in the original travertine. Marble opposed to granite is a little more porous yet the pattern between the two is night and day. With granites pattern more speckled, marbles look consists of swirling lines (mineral deposits) usually splitting up the tiles down the center. All of our marble is diamond-cut and not kerosene-cut (kerosene-cut produces a kerosene smell that hardly goes away) Marble comes in standard sizes of 12 x 12, 16 x 16, 18 x 18, 20 x 20 and some may be found in 24 x 24 or even 12 x 24.
Granite
Granite is a very strong speckled stone that varies in shades, colors and styles. With its recent popularity mining technology has considerably advanced, intern the prices have dropped drastically. Granite has been used in many different ways, such as; flooring and countertops. Increased use of granite in roads, bridges, tunnels and buildings have come apparent in the last few years. The great thing about granite is, like all natural stones, every tile is uniquely different then the last. So the floor that you decide to lay down will never be like your neighbors, even if you have the same granite. All of our granite is diamond-cut and not kerosene-cut (kerosene-cut produces a kerosene smell that hardly goes away) Granite comes in standard sizes of 12 x 12, 16 x 16, 18 x 18, 20 x 20 and some may be found in 24 x 24 or even 12 x 24.
